Perhaps Simon Baron-Cohen is onto something here. However, he should have added one more question to his hypothesis:

What role, if any, does Mercury exposure (in the form of vaccine preservative thimerosal) plays in triggering autism?

For in a surprise move, Press the Meat featured a whole debate on this yesterday. One that was of course one sided since the Institute of Medicine's president got way more time to push his baloney than the author of this book.
